Dec. 11, 1984 - June 26, 2005

When Michelle was 2 1/2 ,her sister Christy was born.

When she was 3 1/2 her parents divorced.

At age 5 Michelle was in kindergarten at Woodland Heights Elementary School in Brownwood, TX when her mom's job transfered them to Minnesota. They lived there for 2 years. Michelle loved to sled and learned to water ski there on the lakes. She also took gymnasitcs lessons from a Russian coach who really pushed her to do her best. She started second grade there before her mom's job moved them back to Brownwood.  Her dad had remarried and had Tyler that same year.

At the age of eight Michelle became a Christian by asking Jesus Christ to be her personal saviour. It is because of this that we are sure she went to heaven immediately when she died. The professor that saw her in Acapulco after her death said Michelle had a very big smile on her face.

Michelle kept up her gymnastics, and was a Girl Scout from 2nd through 6th grade. She was actively involved in all the Girl Scout camping activities and earned lots of badges.
Her mom and Dorothy Lundy were her scout troop leaders.

From the ages of 9-14 we lived on Lake Brownwood where Michelle loved to ski, tube, fish, and jet-ski with Christy and her buddies, especially her lake neighbor Jessica Cox.

She took voice lessons in grades 5 and 6. She sang lots of solos at church and school choir events.

Michelle played softball in summer leagues, and started 7th grade playing volleyball and basketball. She also ran track, and participated in the maximum number of track events (2 field events and 3 running events). She set a record (at her middle school) in high jump (5"1")and ran the 100 and 300 m hurdles, ran the 100 m and 400 m relay, and did long jump.

Michelle, her mom, and Christy moved back into town before Michelle learned to drive!  She was actively involved in her church youth group at Coggin Avenue Baptist Church all her life.
She lived in Brownwood until moving to Huntsville for University.

Michelle, her mom, and Christy loved to travel and learn about other cultures. This may be because Michelle's mom grew up in a foreign country. Many of their trips were to visit (or to travel with) Michelle's grandparents, who were Baptist missionaries in Guyana, South America, and then in China. They travelled together to several countries: England, Ireland, Scotland, France, China, Guyana, Barbados, St. Lucia, and Mexico.

She was in Acapulco in 1997 and described it as one of the most beautiful places on earth. She called it 'paradise'. It is ironic she went to Paradise while visiting there her last days on earth.

In her short time on this earth, Michelle fought to be the best at everything she did.  She excelled in many sports at Brownwood High School.  She played volleyball, softball, and ran track. She was the all-district leader in several volleyball stats her SR year, and was the team MVP. She was a member of the national honor society, and Texas Scholars. She graduated from BHS in 2003 in the top 10% of her class.

She went to Sam Houston State University in Huntsville, TX to major in criminal justice, specializing in Victim studies.  She was on the Freshman Leadership Council (FLIP) and in the honors program.

She came back to Brownwood for the summer between her freshman and soph. years to live at home, work, and go to summer school.  Her job - working with retarded citizens from 6:00am-2:30 each day. It was a tough job but she fell in love with the  'clients'.  She had them over to our house for hamburgers that summer, and also when she came back into town for Thanksgiving and Christmas celebrations. She had such a heart for them, and they loved her.

She made the Dean's List her sophomore year and had her own apartment that year as well.  She was so happy that she could have her cat Cooper with her at last!  She loved her school and her life in Huntsville. She had so many great friends there, and loved to entertain at her apartment a lot.  She was sort of the social chairman and cook of the group!

She was actively involved in intramural sports at SHSU and in the city of Huntsville.  She had a passion for animals all of her life. She volunteered weekly at the animal shelter in Huntsville.
She loved most anything that was alive; lizards, snakes, cats, dogs, hamsters, etc.

It was Michelle’s dream to become a lawyer and one day work as a child advocate.  She had a passion for the victims of this world, and for those who were 'underdogs'. She wanted to be totally bilingual in order to serve all people and cultures.
She died doing what she loved and believed in - being with friends, travelling in a foreign country, and trying to learn a new language.

Michelle Annette Edwards
will forever be remembered, loved, and missed by all who knew her.
